Tutors

Both mathematics and science are deemed as subjects that aren’t for the faint hearted. For some children, these two subjects are a walk in the park. For others, they’re a nightmare. It could be a few grade 1 sums or third year chemistry. Nevertheless, both maths and science seem to be the ultimate challenge for a large number students at school. The worst part about it all is that those who find maths and science difficult are often quick to give up on these subjects all together. At the end of the day, there’s no need for a child to assume that they’ll always be bad at maths or science.  All they need is a qualified tutor. Here are 5 signs that your child might just need a tutor:

1.    Your child is getting poor results

There is nothing more discouraging than a child sitting in a class and feeling like they’re being taught in another language. This often results in poor test results as they quite simply have not grasped the concepts that are being taught. However, this does not mean that the child is intrinsically incompetent. Getting hold of a good tutor can make this whole process a lot easier for your child. Tutors are often able to pinpoint exactly where your child is falling short. Therefore, instead of going through the entire syllabus the tutor can help the child with the sections that they find challenging.

2.    Your child lacks motivation

It can be difficult for a child to aim to do better if they’re lazy.  Sometimes, your child needs some kind of motivation to get out of bed practise their maths and science. These are the kind of subjects that require a lot of practice in order to do well. However, if you have scheduled meetings with a tutor your child will be pushed to work on their maths and science for an allocated amount of time every week.

3.    Your child doesn’t like the subject

Sometimes children perform poorly in maths and science because they simply do not like the subject. In an instance like this, it can be difficult to encourage the child to do their maths and science. However, a tutor could find ways to make learning more enjoyable for your child. There are many tutors who can relate the work to concepts that the child understands. They are able to approach maths and science from a new perspective that your child might enjoy.

4.    Your child is falling behind

Even some of the top students have  moments where they can’t keep up with their classes. Maths and science are often taught rather quickly as there is a lot of content to cover. Tutors can help your child to keep up. This could be helpful if they were unable to grasp a new concept or happened to miss a few days of school.

5.     Your child has a bad teacher

As much as we hate to admit it, some teachers just aren’t that good at their job. As a parent, it shouldn’t be your job to make up for bad teaching. However, as a temporary measure you could use a tutor to keep you child up to the necessary standard. Before you hire a tutor, read reviews of the tutor by past students. You’ll find many reviews of capable tutors listed on Snupit who can prepare you or your child for the big test in the comfort of your home or at their premises. There will be no further need to fear maths tests and homework anymore.
