Paving

There a number of small things that you can do to make your home feel brand-new again. You don’t have to break the bank. Rather, you can make minor adjustments like re-paving your driveway. Snupit helps people across South Africa find good paving services.  Many home-owners forget small details like re-paving the driveway. Especially during the busy months of the year when the only concern is paying the bills. However, at some point maintenance will have to be a top priority. In terms of your pavement, here are some tell-tale signs that you need to revamp your paving as soon as possible.

1.    Faded colour

Whether your driveway is comprised of bricks or cobblestones, the colour is likely to fade over a couple of years. The bricks or stones will develop a greyish tinge and lose the vibrancy they once had. If this is the case, you’ll probably want to re-pave. However, if it’s not that bad, you can hire pavers to varnish the pavement. This brings back the colour quickly and cost effectively. This is especially useful for pavement that is under 5 years old.

2.    A bunch of cracks

If the pavement has any cracks in it, then it’s time for an upgrade. Cracks will only get worse over time. Especially if the weather conditions in your area aren’t favourable. Every time a car drives over a crack it stands a chance of increasing the length of the crack. Furthermore, there is no quick fix for cracks. This is one of those instances that calls for re-paving as soon as possible.

3.    An eroded pavement

An eroded pavement is a very similar situation to a cracked pavement. The only way to fix it is undergoing the process of re-paving. One has to remember that a pavement is open to the elements 24/7. This means rain, wind, snow and so forth can affect the condition of the pavement. Moreover, pavements are walked on and driven on too. This slowly but surely takes a toll on the pavement.

4.    Pavement holes

Sometimes there are entire sections of the pavement that end up disappearing over time. This could be due to bad weather or the roots of plants and trees pushing up the pavement. In addition to this, holes should be addressed as soon as possible. If they are repeatedly filled with rain water they begin to expand over time. This will cause irreversible damage that can only be fixed by re-paving the entire area.

5.    Missing bricks/cobblestones

Sometimes there are entire bricks or stones that end up detached from the rest of the pavement. This can happen when the cement that holds them down gets loosened over time. Additionally, this is more likely to happen if your pavement is not on a level surface. However, the good news is that you often don’t have to re-pave the entire area. You can simply replace the missing bricks or cobblestones.
