Roof Repair

There is a wealth of information available online on virtually every topic under the sun. However, not all of it is accurate. This is why you cannot take anything you read at face value. This holds true for roof repair and maintenance. If you want to go DIY on your next roofing project, you might look for tips to follows, but you have to be careful about the information you rely on. The main reason for this is that there are many myths related to roof repair or maintenance. Here are some of the most common ones:

Roofs Are Forever

Roofs only last as long as the homes they are on top of. There are no lifetime guarantees with roofs. With age and usage, roofs require replacement and repair from time to time. So, don’t assume that your home roof is going to last forever.

DIY Is Doable

You might assume that there is nothing more to roof repair or maintenance than just handling the shingles. Hence, you may feel that going DIY is not a bad idea at all. However, when it comes to a roofing project, the underlayer and roof deck may all have to be replaced. Roofs are difficult to replace and hence are built to last. Therefore, you need to contact a professional.

Repair is Cheaper than Replacement

If your roof has suffered any damage, you might feel that having it repaired can restore it back to working order and it will be as good as new. However, constant repair is not the best approach. There will come a time when you need more than just roof repair or maintenance and have to replace your roof. Even though repair is cheaper than replacement, it is a short-term solution and intended for small problems and issues.

Roofing Replacements Take Time

Even if your entire roof has to be replaced, it won’t take the professionals more than a couple of days to complete the task. Of course, a roof replacement job is contingent on the weather behaving itself for the entirety of the project. In fact, when you work with a professional, they will give you a timeframe for the completion of the job before they actually start, so you will have a clear idea.

Roof Replacement = Cancellation of Homeowners’ Insurance

No, getting a new roof doesn’t mean that your homeowners’ insurance will be voided. In many states, the law mandates that insurance companies continue to provide coverage for homes that have undergone roof replacement. This is a no-brainer if you have to opt for roofing replacement as a result of a natural disaster.

Roofing Warranty Covers Everything

There are certain limits to the coverage you receive with roofing warranty. The warranty only holds valid if you constantly maintain your roof and it is in good shape. In case of negligence or damage to your roof, the warranty might be voided.

These are some of the many myths about professional roof repair or maintenance. Hopefully, you won’t believe any of these after receiving all this information. However, this doesn’t mean that you should not invest in professional roof repair and maintenance.
