Fencing Materials

The borders around our home keeping our pets and loved ones in, and unwelcome visitors and intruders out are usually in the form of walls or fencing. Fencing can be a structure that still allows for visibility in and out, or it can be a solid structure. Knowing about the different types of fencing and the different purposes for fencing can help you to decide how to enclose your property, safely and securely. Here are some interesting facts, purposes and benefits of different types of fencing.

1.    Hedge fencing

Also known as Topiary fencing, this is one of the earliest methods of fencing used by humans to create boundaries or borders. Topiary fencing makes use of bushes by shaping and trimming them to look like a solid wall. They are usually thick and rather lovely, creating  privacy and beautifying your border.

2.    Palisade fencing

Sometimes also known as stake walling or paling, this fence makes use of stakes, secure together to form a boundary. Earlier palisade was made from tree trunks, branches or poles. Modern palisade is made from metal stakes, and fairly difficult to breach. Palisade is one of the best boundaries to have for security.

3.    Electric fencing

Electric fencing is also a decent security measure but may end up costing more to power. Electric fences are not allowed to be set to a lethal voltage, but rather a voltage to warn and deter. It is also illegal to have any spikes or barbed wire with electric fencing. Electric fencing is slightly more flimsy and allows for full visibility in both directions.

4.    Wire fences

Wire fences like chain link fencing are very commonly used in homes. These are probably the most affordable and a good compromise between security and budget. You can choose your fencing from a wide variety of sizes, shapes and wire types. If you have small pets you wish to keep in, fencing with smaller holes is better.

5.    Clearvu fencing

A new innovation in the fencing world is the clearvu fencing. This is a rather pricey boundary, but with good reason. It looks like a wire fencing, providing a clear view in and out as the name suggests. The difference is in its function. It has a kink in it, and this kink is supposedly able to withstand the force of a vehicle hitting it. This is obviously amazing because your children could play in the garden and never have to worry about rogue cars crashing into your property. Furthermore, it can not be cut with wire cutters the way other fences can. This fencing is commonly used around building and shopping malls.
