Interior Painter

You have decided to paint the interiors of your home or office, which will no doubt be a facelift if nothing else. If you have decided to get a professional company to come and do it properly, you will save yourself a lot of time, effort and the chance of mistakes are far less. Choosing the right company for your needs is the next step, so let’s look at some basic tips on how to hire the perfect interior painter.

1.    Meet and Greet

Getting references from friends and family on painters they have had a positive experience with is a great way to start your search. Try to get at least three separate companies to evaluate and quote, in that you can get a good comparison to ensure you are being quoted fairly. Also, ensure that you are home to meet each contractor, and check to see how thoroughly they evaluate and investigate the job at hand. Face to face impressions can also often tell you whether you want to trust this contractor, or not.

2.    Give Credit, Where Credit is Due

Looking into their credentials, like seeing if they belong to a trade group or builders association is a great way to ensure you are using a contractor that is well known and respected. It also means that the contractor is a legitimate businessman, who will not disappear overnight with your deposit, as he will always be accountable for the money he makes, and the work he delivers to his clients.

3.    Consider a Contract

A contractual agreement between you and the service provider ensures that everyone understands exactly what is expected of them, and provides a point of reference, should a disagreement arise. It also protects both parties, and ensures that the money agreed upon is delivered, for the services rendered. A good contractor should always provide a written agreement, however, one can always be drawn up, if need be.

4.    Pick Your Paint

Choose your paint yourself, and buy it. This helps to eliminate confusion around who pays for the paint, and ensure that you get the paint you wanted. Choosing the right finish is also a decision best made by you, rather than the painter, as you will be the one seeing to its maintenance. Generally, the higher the gloss finish, the better the paint will be able to withstand washing and cleaning.

5.    Get a Guarantee

Most interior painters should offer a 2-year guarantee on their job, and they should fix any flaking, bubbling, chipping or degrading of paint in that time span at a minimal charge, if anything at all. Also ensure that there is a guarantee in the contract on both the labour and the materials, as the materials are generally cheaper than the labour!

If you are excited to give your building a new look and different feel, painting it will be an exciting change! Find qualified and experienced, professional interior painters here on Snupit.
