Pest Control Services

Waiting can feel like some sort of slow torture if you are expecting a pest control service to arrive and treat your home for vermin. Whether it is ants, cockroaches, bed bugs or fleas invading your living space, you can kill the interminable wait for making sure your home is adequately prepped for the pest control services to come in and do their job, and hopefully allow you to safely continue yours. Here are some basic tips on preparing your home for pest control services.

1.    Cockroaches

If you are exterminating cockroaches, you will need to ensure that the pest control guys have access to cupboards, especially in the kitchen. These little creeps are mostly nocturnal, and therefore require a pest controller to access their hiding spots.

Some pest control companies will appreciate it if you are able to move heavy furniture and appliances, such as stoves or fridges. This will help them to reach those areas where cockroaches commonly like to live.

Ensure that none of the chemical products is touched or moved or cleaned until they have dried, as these products will continue to work against the cockroaches for up to 2 weeks. At this point, another visit from the pest controller may be in order to renew your forces.

2.    Ants

Ants can be a very legitimate worry for homeowners, especially white ants, as they can begin to eat away at the very foundations of your home. Ant treatments are very localised in general, so it helps the pest controllers if you can pinpoint their origin.

If you can identify the areas in which are most problematic, try to clear those areas of articles before the exterminator comes. Due to nature of the products used, the exterminator will require that you do not touch any of the products that are used until they are completely dry.

Pest controllers also warn not to use common insect sprays in areas that have been treated by a pest controller, as these products will simply cause the pest controller methods to lose efficacy and will not result in better extermination.

3.    Fleas

Ridding your home of fleas with a pest controller can be an involved process, which is not treated locally. Ensure that all carpets are vacuumed, and continue to vacuum all carpets daily for up to two weeks. This will help to ensure that the next generation does not hatch from eggs and continue to breed and spread in your home.
