Tutors

The world as we know it today requires that children be carted off to school to educated, and sent home at the end of the day having “learnt” and being competent in whatever they were taught that day. The truth is that there is no one size fits all with children. We are now beginning to understand that different children have different methods of absorbing information, and a child that is battling to apply the concepts that are taught at school may truly benefit from one on one learning with a tutor. It is a great idea to try a tutor if your child displays any of the following challenges:

Homework Hell

If homework has become a nightmare and turns into sessions of severe distress and upset, your child will benefit from a gentle and guiding hand. Parental assistance is great, but many parents may start to feel impatient if their child is not grasping a topic fast enough. A parent may also not know of all the different ways in which a concept can be presented, to make it easier to grasp. A tutor is not only extremely knowledgeable in his field, but he also knows how to teach effectively, in a learning-friendly manner.

Homework should never stretch into the personal life of a child in a manner that is destructive to their personal life. If the homework is taking too long each, you might see a great improvement if a tutor is available to guide your child.

A Struggle to Succeed

If your child is showing signs of distress at having to attend school or do homework. Or if your child is failing to maintain good grades, it may be that the concepts are not being fully grasped during the lessons. In this instance, a tutor may help greatly with the one on one attention that tutoring provides. Furthermore, having a concept explained by a different person can often make a profound difference to the level of understanding that is achieved. A simple matter of the choice of words or phrasing can make a concept seem foreign, or make it seem completely understandable.

A tutor will also work at the pace of the student, and ensure that a topic is completely covered and that the student can apply what was learned, before moving on to a new one. This is often the reason some students fall behind, because during lessons the subject matter may be changed before everyone has had the opportunity to grasp it. A tutor will help to fill in those blank spaces for a student.

Tutoring is often times not something that a child requires on an on-going basis, it is a means of playing catch up almost. As soon as a child regains confidence as his ability to apply new concepts improves, he can continue as before, without a tutor, and manage perfectly. For other students, long-term tutoring can make a great deal of difference, and help them to make impossible obstacles feel like realistic and achievable goals.
