We offer traditional Okinawan Goju Ryu karate, which offers a wide physical and mental education. Our focus is on personal development and is largely non-competitive. We teach karate for students of all abilities from the age of 5 onwards.
We offer movement education classes, which are geared towards 3-5 year olds, designed to improve their agility, coordination, balance and strength.
Our Boot Camp classes are hugely popular, offering functional fitness combined with individual attention.
Goju Ryu Karate Centre is owned by Ché Jagger, who has his 5th dan in Goju Ryu and has studied karate since 1981. He has worked as a teacher in both schools and the dojo for over twenty years. He has represented South Africa for karate, and has also served as a coach for the national team for many years.
Zoë Hinis is the dojo administrator, handling all accounts, communications and event management. She is also an assistant instructor, and has been training in Goju Ryu for eleven years, and currently holds a shodan ranking. Both instructors have first aid training.
We have direct lineage to our home dojo in Okinawa, Japan, giving our karate authenticity and substance.
