Mimmie Buhrmann is a psychologist in private practice (registered with the Health Professions Counsel of South Africa), a mindfulness facilitator, hypnotherapist and an internationally qualified yoga instructor. Through extended research and training in mindfulness and therapy, Mimmie has developed valuable psycho-therapeutic skills with a special interest in holistic body-oriented psychotherapy techniques with the focus on the inter-relationship between mind, emotions, body and spirit.
“I am a psychotherapist, mindfulness facilitator and yoga teacher. In my twenties I became interested in the connection between human emotions and movement, subsequently studying with some of the leading figures of mindfulness, meditation and yoga. This was a rich exploration that led me to a deeper understanding of the principles of living a meaningful and joyous existence.
“Through this experience my practice developed and, once I concluded my Masters degree in Counselling Psychology, I began working with individuals, couples and groups.
“My approach is to encourage, empower and enable clients to connect to their inner being and feelings. This is often a courageous and vulnerable exploration that allows healing and liberation from restrictive conditioning and repetitive negative patterns. Through this enhanced self-awareness, clients strengthen their capacity for self-acceptance; in so doing an authentic expression of self emerges that creates a meaningful life.”
