Darby Architects was founded by Nicholas Darby in 2009, entering into its 4th year of business in January 2013. Nicholas qualified at the University of Natal, Durban in 2001, and after 2 years of post-university experience Nick ventured overseas. He spent 6 years in London qualifying with the Royal Institute of British Architects gaining insightful experience with talented teams from Foster and Partners, as well as working alongside Terence Conran, at Conran & Partners. After finally returning to South Africa to take advantage of ripe opportunities within the built environment.

The practice work is predominantly luxury residential, with new projects emerging in the commercial office, industrial, tertiary and hotel sectors. Darby Architects is a Chartered Architectural Practice with the Royal Institute of British Architects, a member of the South African Institute of Architects, The South African Architects Council and The KZN Institute of Architects.
