Eco-Friendly-Flooring

Not everyone is interested in doing their bit for the environment. But for those of us who are, it’s nice to know that we can add green value through every aspect of our lives. Floor renovations are no exception! If you’ve decided to redo the flooring in your home, you may be interested to learn that there are hundreds of earth-friendly options available. Here are five categories that contain lots of different style options to choose from.

1.    Bamboo flooring

Bamboo is an incredibly hard, durable material once it’s been processed. Manufacturing bamboo involves stacking layers onto each other and compressing them together until they form a solid plank-like profile. This material is then repurposed into other products—and one of them is bamboo floor planks. It’s a great looking wood alternative, and the manufacturing process is very light on the environment.

2.    Concrete flooring

There are literally millions of custom designs you can create with concrete flooring. Also referred to as epoxy flooring or cement flooring, this option presents all kinds of colours, textures and designs. Whatever your floor vision is, you can realize it with concrete flooring. Not only does it look great, but it’s also an earth-friendly alternative to tiles, carpets and brick floors.

3.    Cork flooring

Cork floors are probably the greenest option out there. This floor category has become very trendy lately because of green consciousness in home renovations. However, cork floors have been around for decades. There’s virtually no impact on the environment during the manufacturing of cork floors. Even the excess cork dust, which is a by-product of cutting & processing cork, is used to fuel the machines that do the processing. If you thought you were limited in styles, you’ll be amazed at how many great options are out there.

4.    Recycled wood

Wood flooring will probably never go out of style. Since its inception, it’s been a great option for those who can afford it. But now there is a cheaper option of wooden floor panels which is manufactured from recycled wood. Now anyone can afford this trendy product while simultaneously do their bit for the environment. The options are endless, and new styles are being added all the time.

Thanks for doing your part for the planet. Creating a market for these products encourages suppliers to stock up on them; which means you’ve just had a positive effect on the environment.
