PC Repairs

There are so many teeth-grinding things about having to get your computer repaired. Firstly, you often have no idea how long your computer will be in the repair shop for. Secondly, there are a number of unreliable computer repair shops out there.  If you aren’t careful you could end up with a computer that has more problems than it did to begin with. Nevertheless, if you’re looking for a trustworthy computer repair shop, you can find one online with Snupit.

There are few precautions you can take before you drop your beloved PC off at the repair shop. This way if anything happens to go wrong you’ll still have all of your files and a lot less to worry about. The following is a list 5 things you should do before handing in your PC for repairs.

1.    Upload important files to the cloud

In most instances, people still have some work to get done while their PC is being repaired. If this is the case for you, you’ll want to make sure that you have access to all these files at any time. Luckily, it’s quite easy to back up files online these days. You’ll just need to be selective about which files you choose as there is often a size limit in terms of files that can be uploaded online. Even if there is no limit, it could be costly to try and upload a 10GB file in one sitting. Therefore, you might need to compromise on what type of work you’ll be doing while your PC is getting repaired.

2.    Back up your computer

Backing up your computer is the best way to ensure that you don’t lose any programmes or files that are on your PC. However, you need to make sure that you back up everything correctly. This can be done by creating an image backup of your hard drive.  An image back up 100% replicates your hard drive and its content. Nevertheless, it’s important to ensure that the problem with your PC is not located on the hard drive. Otherwise, when you restore the content on your hard drive you may end causing the same problem to reoccur with your PC.

3.    Protect personal files

You probably have some files on your PC that contain sensitive content. Sensitive content includes bank card pins, medical information and so forth. In an instance like this, you want to make that the workers at the repair shop cannot view this content as they please. In order to prevent this from happening you could encrypt these files or remove them all together.

4.    Allow them to access your PC

It will be a lot easier for your PC to be repaired if it is accessible. Rather than giving your password to the repairer, you should simply remove it for the time being.

5.    Thoroughly describe you PC’s issue

You cannot expect the repairers to automatically know what is wrong with your PC. They need to have a good description of the problem to work with. It’s a good idea to write down the issues that your PC is experiencing beforehand. This way you can clearly explain the problem to the repairer.
