Go See A Performance
During the interview process when you're trying to choose between several different DJs that all seem wonderful, find out if you can attend a performance where each DJ will be playing. Seeing how they operate, how they dress on the job, and the way they interact with other clients could be the perfect way for you decide between DJs for your private party. This may not be allowed if the professional DJ you have in mind only does private parties, though. If you are unable to attend a performance, find out if you can speak with former clients about their experiences instead.
Decide and Enjoy
Once you've made your decision, stick with it. Make sure you get a contact with your professional DJ that will guarantee attendance at your event with consequences for breach of contract. This way, you'll have peace of mind that your DJ will be there and the DJ will have peace of mind that you won't change your decision at the last minute. If you're still unsure for any reason, make the contract a little flexible, such as adding a clause allowing you to change dates within reason or have your deposit refunded if the event is canceled in an emergency situation. When it's all booked and ready, you'll be able to enjoy the rest of your party planning and your party when the day arrives.
