Catering

A good event is accompanied by good catering. Most of the time, catering comes as an afterthought. However, if you want your event to be a success then you should probably start thinking about catering in the early stages of planning. Snupit can help you to find a good catering service with reasonable prices. It's always a good idea to consider more than one catering service too. Additionally, you should think about the kinds of food that your guests would appreciate. Bearing this in mind, the following is a step-by-step guide on how to organise catering.

Step 1: Decide what kind of catering you need

Catering can be placed into two categories. Firstly, there is inhouse catering. This is when the caterers arrive at your event, make the food and serve it. Secondly, there is beforehand catering. As suggested by its description, the food is prepared prior to the event and then it is picked up or delivered. Each option is a great idea; however, you need to consider what type of event you'll be having. Inhouse catering is often the better choice for lengthy functions in which people will require a full meal. That way, the meals can be freshly prepared and served in a restaurant-like fashion. Therefore, inhouse catering is your best bet for weddings, birthdays and full day conferences. On the contrary, beforehand catering often works best for smaller functions where a few finger foods are the only requirement.

Step 2: Find a caterer

Once you’ve decided what your catering needs are, it’s time to find a caterer. There are many different caterers to choose from. You could opt for an actual catering company or  try to strike a catering deal with a restaurant. Moreover, some of the larger supermarket chains offer catering services too. If you go to the food deli section and inquire about it, they should be able to help. However, it’s often a good idea to contact a catering service if you require mass amounts of cutlery, plates and glasses. In an instance like this, the catering company will be able to supply everything for you.

Step 3: Order your food

Finding a caterer is the hard part. Once that’s out of the way you can order your food. Make sure that you place your order well in advance, especially if it’s a large one. In addition to this, make sure that the food meets the dietary needs of the people who will be consuming it. It’s often a good idea to check with your guests beforehand if they have any dietary restrictions. It would be smart to avoid having too many foods with nuts. Nuts are a very common allergen. Lastly, you’ll want to make sure that you order enough food for everyone. Rather have too much food than too little.
