1. Steel Works
Steel works encompass the fabrication, welding, structural support, and installation of metal components used for security, structural integrity, and architectural aesthetics.
Common Types of Steel Works
* Security & Access Control: Security gates, burglar bars, security doors, sliding driveway gates, and perimeter palisade fencing.
* Architectural & Aesthetic: Staircases, balustrades, handrails, pergolas, and decorative screens.
* Structural Supports: Steel lintels, roof trusses, columns, beams, and mezzanine framing for structural reinforcement.
Standard Work Process
* Site Measurement & Design: Accurate on-site dimensions are taken, and layouts or shop drawings are prepared to ensure proper fit and alignment.
* Material Sourcing & Cutting: Selecting the appropriate steel profiles (e.g., square tubing, flat bars, angles, or channels) and cutting them to precise lengths using angle grinders or chop saws.
* Fabrication & Welding: Assembling components using arc, MIG, or TIG welding. Joints are squared, leveled, and securely fused.
* Surface Preparation & Anti-Corrosion Treatment: Grinding down welds smooth, cleaning off mill scale/oil, and applying an anti-corrosive primer (such as red oxide or zinc chromate) followed by enamel, epoxy, or powder-coated finish to prevent rust.
* Installation & Anchoring: Securing the fabricated steel into brickwork, concrete, or structural frameworks using heavy-duty anchor bolts, expansion bolts, or direct on-site welding.
2. Tap Fitting (Plumbing Installation)
Tap fitting refers to the installation, sealing, and connection of sanitary ware water-delivery fixtures (taps, mixers, and valves) to hot and cold water supply lines.
Common Types of Taps & Mixers
* Basin & Sink Mixers: Single-lever or dual-handle units mounted directly onto vanity basins or kitchen sinks.
* Pillar Taps: Traditional separate hot and cold pillar taps.
* Bath & Shower Mixers: Concealed or exposed wall-mounted mixers controlling water temperature and flow for bathing areas.
* Pantry / Sink Swivel Mixers: High-arch or pull-out spray mixers designed for kitchen sinks.
Standard Installation Process
* Water Supply Isolation: Shutting off the main water supply valve or angle valves beneath the fixture to prevent backflow and flooding during installation.
* Preparation & Sealing:
* Wrapping male threaded connectors with PTFE (teflon) tape (typically 3 to 5 clockwise turns) to ensure a watertight seal.
* Ensuring rubber washers, O-rings, and base plates are correctly positioned to prevent leaks between the tap body and the fixture surface.
* Mounting the Fixture:
* Deck-mounted (Basins/Sinks): Inserting the tap shanks through the mounting holes, securing them from underneath using horseshoe brackets and fastening backnuts.
* Wall-mounted (Mixers/Pillar taps): Aligning the tap connections with concealed or exposed supply elbows, ensuring proper vertical and horizontal leveling.
* Connecting Supply Lines: Attaching flexible connectors (braided hoses) or copper/PEX supply pipes from the wall angle valves to the tap inlets. Tightening securely with a spanner (avoiding over-tightening to prevent stripping threads).
* Pressure & Leak Testing: Slowly opening the main water supply valves, turning on the taps to flush out any debris, and inspecting all threaded joints, connections, and flexible hoses for leaks.
* Finishing: Applying a neat bead of anti-fungal silicone around the base plate of deck-mounted taps where they meet the basin or countertop for a clean, waterproof seal.
