Djembe with Manan is amazing. It has created a great community. A true sense of camaraderie, bringing people from all walks of life together! It's the best place to learn something new and also the best place to break out of your comfort zone. You needn't be a professional drum player, everyone is welcome. All one literally needs to do is to grab a chair... sit on it, pull the drum close to your body and play with the rest of the crowd! Manan makes everyone feel comfortable and competent. He's very good at encouraging the crowd and his positive energy is very much contagious. With that said, it sure is the place to be when you're in Cape Town! Best djembe teacher I have come across thus far in South Africa. Manan has got a great sense of where you stand as a learner and lifts you up from there. Also offers great advise on drums.

Manan Ajimah grew up with the traditions and folklore of West African percussion and is a guardian of and ambassador for the djembe and its rhythms.

He is known for his genuine warmth and encouragement, and meeting the learner at the appropriate level; he is able to challenge without overwhelming.

Manan offers:
individual tuition and private lessons for drummers of all levels of skills and ability (from R200 per hour)
workshops for schools, institutions, organisations, corporations, parties, private functions, festivals and any other occasion (from R100 per person per hour, min. of three people)
group lessons for beginners and drummers improving their skills and knowledge of the rhythms? (from R100 per person per hour, min. of three people)
Djembe drums are made available or you bring your own. You may also be interested in our Saturday afternoon drum circle.
