Pamela Waters Oosthuizen of Lindsay & Waters Attorneys was admitted as an attorney in South Africa in 2003.
I have practiced in the legal field since 1988 when I left fashion to pursue law - why on earth would anyone leave glamour for law ? the short answer I am passionate about justice! While working in the family law firm I decided during 1999 to abandon the BCom degree and registered at Unisa for the B Proc law degree and by Gods grace completed the course in 4 years while working full time and running a home with four children.
Now you know why I said by Gods grace. I wrote the admission and conveyancing exams in the same year and was admitted as an attorney and conveyancer in 2003 and have been going strong ever since. High Court appearance rights was granted three years later in 2006. I am also a commissioner of the Small Claims Court presiding in the Cape Town Magistrate's Court which is pro bono thus the service is for love not money. I love family and focus on:
- Family Law such as custody arrangements;
- Parenting plans;
- Child maintenance;
- Protection orders as well as divorce matters;
- Consent papers;
- Settlement agreements;
- Mediation as well as property law for registration of property transfers and collection of rentals;
- Evictions of unlawful tenants;
- I also focus on Winding up of deceased estates;
- Drafting of marriage contracts such as ante-nuptial contracts;
- Estate management and general law which will include contracts;
- Collection of debt due (monies owing etc) in the Magistrates Court, Regional Court and High Court.
