My mother was kept alive at all cost and despite a hopeless prognosis until we got lawyers in to force a move to Hospice where she was finally allowed to die with dignity, pain free. Despite signed DNR's and repeated requests to interface with Hospice, the Physician and staff in the ICU maintained and escalated treatment (such as giving her Adrenalin) The Physician refused to sign the necessary documents to allow a hospice doctor to make an evaluation. We had to get lawyers involved to get this third opinion. Finally my mother was moved in Hospice Houghton where she was given morphine and could finally be comfortable, at peace and within 24 hours she passed away, finally at peace!
My son has been admitted twice and we received excellent service, friendly staff and well cooked meals.
