About Us

About Us:

Drilling is our core business. We are specialist core drillers and focus on providing this and its directly related services to our clients. Whatever the project – whether it is one DPSH test, or a drilling program of several hundred boreholes in an environmentally sensitive location with a complex in hole testing regimen – we have the equipment, experience and staff for the job. The company, and most sites, is owner managed by an owner passionate about the drilling industry. This results in attention to detail, great quality cores and an outstanding SHEQ culture. Please contact us to discuss your project needs.

Why Choose Us?

Modern, Hydraulic Drill Rigs:
Our rigs are designed to get better cores. The long stroke can fill a corebarrel in a single pass, resulting in less stop/start drilling that leads to washed samples, grinding of core and damaged core. The increased speed and power of a hydraulic machine allows us to provide a larger diameter core sample which is better for laboratory testing and general logging and profiling. The drill rigs are vastly safer for staff to work with. Productivity is increased and downtime is decreased.

Core Barrel Technology:

Do you have a difficult to drill formation? soft, silty, friable, or alluvial sand? . We are the only company in Africa to use triple tube as standard on all soft formations. All our rigs are running HMLC triple tube barrels that provide a 60 mm diameter core in difficult formations. In even more difficult formations we are proud to be the first drillers in Africa to use a Mazier type corebarrel which is far superior to triple tube. Check out our page on the Mazier type barrels and how they can benefit your project.

Drilling Mud Technology:

The key to successfully coring many difficult formations is in the drilling muds that are used. Most drillers use a “one size fits all” methodology and mix a simple viscosifier into their drilling water. Sadly, this is never going to give quality results. We keep in stock a large range and quantity of drilling muds from viscosifiers to shale inhibitors, cutting oils, flocculents and no less than 3 different types of bentonite. The correct use of drilling muds is the key for maximum core recovery and increased production.

Experience:

We generally drill several thousands of metres of core each year. Out of this we have built up a huge portfolio of experience. We can tackle projects large and small with next to impossible set ups, difficult drilling conditions, and projects with exceptional environmental and safety protocols. From carry on sites where the drill rig must be stripped and carried onto site piece by piece and rebuilt due to access constraints, to drilling in a nature reserve over a water course – we are able to adapt techniques and lessons from drill sites in Africa to get the job done quickly and effectively.

Outstanding SHEQ:

Great safety, health and environmental policies go hand in hand with delivering on great quality policies. We take a top down approach to this. As management we take decisions that are informed by our SHEQ policies like buying custom made personal protective equipment designed to enhance comfort and safety of our staff to using semi-automated drill rigs that limit human-machine interaction. On the ground we conduct daily SHEQ meetings every morning, we have turned out SHEQ policies into interactive documents and we reward positive behaviour. By providing daily reminders and ongoing training around quality, safety and health and environmental policies we have been able to turn policies into a holistic workplace culture.
