MARINE DRILLING is a JOHANNESBURG based drilling and water works company offering bore hole drilling services, supply of submersible pump installations services including construction of water tanks.
The services and products of our company includes Hydro geological survey, Water Well Drilling (Air Rotary & Mud rotary), Exploration Drilling, Pumping, Borehole assessment.
How we drill a Borehole:
Once we reach to the site we will check the location pointed by hydro geologist to drill the borehole. We will use bit and hammer to drill the borehole until we find the water and then we decides how many meters we have to install the casing both plain and perforation. After installing the casing we will continue the drilling until the recommended meters by geologist.
Borehole Development.
We always carry out borehole development which is a process of removing fine sediment and drilling fluid from the area immediately surrounding the perforations. This increases the well’s ability to produce water and maximize production from the aquifer. An aquifer is an underground layer of water-bearing permeable rock. There are two general types of aquifers: confined and unconfined. Confined aquifers have a layer of impenetrable rock or clay above them, while unconfined aquifers lie below a permeable layer of soil.
If the aquifer formation does not naturally have any relatively coarse particles to form a filter, it is necessary for our driller to install an artificial filter pack. This pack is placed around the screen or perforations so the well can be developed. For example, this procedure is necessary when the aquifer is composed of fine sand and the individual grains are uniform in size. It is important to match the grain size of the filter pack material with the size of the slot openings of the screen to attain maximum yield from the well. Typically, the slot size of the screen is selected so that 85 percent of the artificial pack material remains outside of the screen after boreholes are developed.
