People enter therapy for different reasons. Sometimes people have been struggling for a long time in a relationship, have felt sad and withdrawn for reasons unknown to them, are overwhelmed by work stress, self medicate with substances, or are struggling with various changes in their life circumstance. Often many have been putting off therapy for some time (due to a variety of reasons), and when I meet with them they are in a space where they are more willing to start exploring and unpacking their lives.

No two processes are exactly the same however. Through expressing yourself openly and honestly and understanding your life story (past and present) you are more able to make a critical shift from being ‘stuck’ to ‘unstuck’. Sharing thoughts and getting more in touch with your emotions in an safe environment can be a cathartic experience and allow you to find new perspectives and insights into yourself and your life. Solutions can develop more easily in a supported thinking and feeling space.
