We specialise in pharmaceutical cold chain boxes/containers, for the pharmaceutical industry. Thermo labile products are transported all over South Africa on a daily basis, to maintain the quality and integrity of these products, it must be protected from both cold (below 2°C) and heat, (above 8°C) and therefore, in the pharmaceutical context a cold chain box / container is required to maintain the temperature of the pharmaceutical product inside the container between the parameters of 2°C to 8°C for as long as the product is in transit. Bearing in mind that these products are expensive, it is crucial that the packaging used is capable to protect the product adequately, to avoid financial losses due to cold chain failure.
While in transit, the package will be exposed to a wide range of ambient temperatures depending on the mode of transport, the geographical area where it is transported to and from as well as the time of year. A cold chain container transported in South Africa from Johannesburg to Cape Town in summer, will be transported in the hold an aeroplane, where it will be exposed to temperatures in excess of -20°C and be transported in the back of a delivery vehicle, where the ambient temperature can reach 37°C.
