Description of the Services offered:
1. Risk based medical surveillance:
• Baseline medical examination
• Periodic medical examination
• Exit Medical examinations
• Return to work after an extended period of absence due to illness or injury
2. Medical examinations include the following:
• Occupational, medical and lifestyle history
• Height, weight, BMI, Blood pressure, Pulse, Blood sugar and urine analysis
• Audiometry screening – for employees exposed to >85dBA
• Lung function tests – (FVC, FEV1, FVC %)
• Vision screening
• Biological monitoring where applicable
• Full Physical examination.
• Issue of a certificate of fitness or exit certificate.
3. Primary Health Care:
• Setting up an onsite clinic
• Monitoring and management of chronic illnesses.
• Advice on Lifestyle modification
• Follow up of problems identified during medical examinations
• Examination, diagnosis and treatment of minor illnesses.
• Referral to local facilities for appropriate treatment not available in the company clinic.
• Dispensing of medication if applicable.
4. Injury on Duty Administration:
• Management of injuries on duty and Occupational disease (including NIHL)
• Electronic reporting to COIDA
• Follow up of IOD’s
• Statistics and reporting to management
5. Occupational Health Risk Program:
• Assist in compiling, monitoring and operating in an advisory capacity regarding Occupational Health and Safety.
• Drawing up of all policies and procedures pertaining to Occupational and Primary Health Care
• Assist the company with risk assessments i.e.: health, hazardous biological agent, and hazardous chemical substances.
• Representation of company for audits pertaining to health.
• Site visits
• Recommendations with regards to health hazards.
6. Administration and documentation and other duties:
• Maintaining individual medical records of all employees seen as per legal requirements
• Data analysis.
• Reports and findings of medical surveillance.
• Issue of Certificate of Fitness and Exit Certificates.
• Assisting employer with disability management and absenteeism.
• Assisting employer with the writing of company policies and procedures applicable to Occupational and Primary Health of the facility.
• Assisting in management and referral of abnormalities found during the medical surveillance.
• Administration with regards to all legal compliance in the clinic, record keeping, patient files, statistics, drug and patient registers etc.
• Ordering and control of medication and clinic supplies.
• Checking of emergency medication and equipment monthly
• Liaise with company medical doctor.
• Advise on Occupational hygiene and personal protective equipment
• Assist with incapacity/disability management.
