I completed my undergraduate degree in Social Dynamics at Stellenbosch University , my honours in Psychology at The University of South Africa and my masters in Clinical Psychology and Community Counseling at Stellenbosch University.
I have started working in the psychology field in 2010. I have worked with youth at risk or in conflict with the law with Usiko Stellenbosch. I ran adolescents groups and wilderness therapy interventions with the team.
During my experience at the Saartjie Baartman Center I worked with intimate partner violence and gender based violence. I focused on trauma counseling with women and children who has experienced violence, abuse, torture, trafficking, or sexual abuse.
I also have experience working with survivors of cancer and families who have lost loved ones to cancer at CANSA. As well as coordinating the Relay for Life program in the Overberg Region.
Further I worked with at risk adolescents as an Office Manager and School Counselor for Community Keepers.
At Welgevallen Community Psychology Clinic in Stellenbosch I worked as a Student Clinical Psychologist with various clients and diagnoses. During this time I also worked as a student Clinical Psychologist at Kylemore Community Clinic.
As an Intern Clinical Psychologist I worked at at Lentegeur Psychiatric Hospital. I worked in the Child and Family Unit, the Intellectual Disability Services, the Adult Therapeutic Ward and the Forensic Ward.
As a Public Service Clinical Psychologist I worked at the Department of Correctional Services in the Southern Cape .
I currently work as a Clinical Psychologist for the Department of Social Development providing psychological services to children and adolescents in Child and Youth Care Centres in the Western Cape. This includes children placed under the Children's Act in need of care and protection, as well as the Child Justice Act (children in conflict with the law), and children with mild to profound Intellectual Disabilities. I also work with adult males and females in the addiction programmes.
I also work in private practice in the Paarl area providing Clinical Psychology services.
My passion and experience with regards to this field has grown across different sectors exposing me to various client profiles, diagnoses and cultures.
Providing my clients with a space that is optimal to promote their psychological well-being is not only my ethical responsibility but my passion.
I believe when we have the opportunity to engage ourselves in a non-judgmental and non-threatening space we open the gateway for personal growth. In the words of Carl Jung "the privilege of a lifetime is to become who you really are"
