I purchased a property with an existing DSC alarm panel, installed in 2013 by Joshua Morris & Associates. My wife contacted Chris van den Berg (the owner) to ask some questions; he did not reply for more than a week. I called another installer who, together with the local DSC supplier by remote login, inspected the system to find that the Master Security Lockout Code had been set. The DSC supplier advised that the code should be supplied; this was echoed by DSC internationally. They further advised that although there is a backdoor, its use is not recommended practice. van den Berg refuses to supply this code,stating “he has no contract with me”, "a competent installer should be able to bypass the system", and when I pointed out that DSC advise against this practice, "he doesn't work for DSC". He is aware that an alarm is an insurance requirement. I strongly advise against using this installer: The service level I received was zero.
