Shuttle Services

There are many different forms of shuttle services, and in many ways, buses, taxis and trains all form part of shuttle services. They are all designed to help arrive at their destinations and serve the general public without discrimination or reservations. Not only do they help to get people to work without buying a car, but they can help a visitor travel safely and easily without the stress of getting lost in a new city. Here are some interesting facts on shuttle services, their operators and all the other means of public transport.

1.    “Bus”

The word “bus” comes from the Latin word Omnibus, which means “for everyone”. Buses really were intended to be used equally by all members of society.

2.    China does it again

China seems to be at the forefront of production in the world and takes pride in beating world records. They currently have the largest bus in the world and it’s called The Napoleon Jumbocruiser. It has three sections, five doors and is capable of holding 300 people at one given time.

3.    Taxi facts: NY

Taxi cabs and their drivers are rather infamous for their stories and the parts they play in entertaining people. The most notorious for their jokes and charisma are the taxi drivers of New York. Being in the transport business in the city that never sleeps must yield some incredibly interesting stories and events.

4.    Taxi Facts: UK

London taxi cabs are known for their elegance and style, being black and shiny.  They are the only cab company permitted to offer their service and can be found at restaurants, theatres, airports and so on.  Cab drivers are required to study for up to four years before they are qualified to drive. This may sound excessive, but they are putting people’s lives in their hands on a daily basis for a living.

5.    Train facts

The world’s first successful railway line opened on 15 September 1830 in Liverpool Manchester. Unfortunately, this is also the day the first railway fatality occurred when William Huskisson fell under the wheels of a train.  It wasn’t until 1873 that trains were first fitted with toilets, and even then, only the first class carriages were so blessed.
