I'm Tamryn Schmahl, the person behind The Grammar Owl. As a professional editor, I’m passionate about my job and hold myself to high standards of accuracy and honesty.
As alluded to in the opening quote, editing provides an opportunity for writers and communicators to sharpen their language and elevate the impact of their work. My keen eye for grammar and passion for bringing out the fire in others sparked the founding of The Grammar Owl.
Over the years, I've worked as a subeditor in print media and as a freelance copy-editor, proofreader, and transcriptionist for both corporate and private clients. I prefer editing books (especially fiction); however, a round of editing will certainly benefit any type of written content. I hold a BA Linguistics (cum laude) in addition to my practical experience as a first-language English editor.
