Akashni is a registered Counselling psychologist, Coach, Hypnotherapist & Author. She is a PhD graduate from the University of Zululand, a double Masters graduate; with a Masters in Counselling psychology (UKZN) and a second Masters in Industrial Psychology (UDW). She is a qualified and trained certified NLP Coach and Hypnotherapist. She has many years of experience working in different work environments. Her experience in different hospitals, educational institutions and the private sector has stood her in good stead as a psychologist with a wealth of knowledge to bring to her therapy sessions. Her experience as a lecturer in HR, Management and Psychology domains has given her the opportunity to reach out with her coaching qualification to companies to address various organizational concerns. During this time as a practicing psychologist in private practice she has been awarded the title of Business Achiever Award 2015 (Professional Category). She has since then published two books, the Soul Quilt and My Fathers’ Daughter. Her third book is nearing completion.
In addition to her academic and personal achievements, Akashni appears regularly on radio talk shows and in print media. She is regularly been called on by companies, schools and women organizations to address issues on self-development and empowerment.
Akashni’s motto in life is that, “never do anything you hate getting up for”. She regards being a psychologist as not a job but a passion, one that needs to be felt from the core of one’s being, otherwise it would be pointless getting up for this work. Her passion for life is shared by many of her clients as she is a great advocate for a healthy, holistic lifestyle. She regularly conducts meditation and relaxation classes at her rooms.
