We are situated in kempton park but we get our grass at our farm in delmas mpumalanga. It took us nearly 3 years of intensive research to Plant the finest Kikuyu available and today we are proud to say that our Kikuyu is the best on the market.
The Climate for our Farm is perfect and the Grass stay greener for much longer during the Winter Months. Because we have tested a lot of products on the market for weeds , they are no longer a problem and we can say that our lawn is the cleanest of all.
We also let the grass establish themselves over a long period before we farm it and therefore the rolls don't brake and establish themselves at the client very quickly. The planting of the Lawn is done under personal supervision and advise will also be given to maintain your lawn at it's best.
LM Instant Lawn
LM grass with botanical name Dactyloctenium Australe is also common known as Durban Grass, Coast Grass, Natal Crowfoot and Sweet Smother Grass. LM grass is INDIGENOUS to South Africa and predominantly found on the Natal coast and Mozambique, but can be planted with great success in most areas of South Africa. LM is also the most popular choice for gardens in South Africa because of its prominent darker green colour which does not easily turn yellow in continuous wet and rainy conditions when there is not much sun for photosynthesis.
LM grass is a stolniferous perennial which forms a dense sward and is dark green under ideal growing conditions. It is fairly broad leafed and its leaf margins have a twisted appearance. It grows best in shady and semi-shade conditions and performs well in full sun as well. LM grass is commonly known as "shade grass". When planted in full sun, it might need a little more water on extremely hot days. We grow our LM uncovered, therefore our lawn is adapted for growing in full sun all year round.
LM grass has a creeping growth habit that is much less invasive than Kikuyu. It will not invade your flower beds and paving aggressively as Kikuyu does and needs to be trimmed less often in such places. It also does not grow very tall when not cut often but rather forms a thick carpet. LM grass is relatively heat tolerant and can recover from drought and heat stress in a short time.
Kikuyu Instant Lawn
Kikuyu grass is a tropical grass species with botanical name Pennisetum Clandestinum and is know by many common names of which Kikuyu is the most known. It is native to the region of East Africa that is home to the Kikuyu tribe, after which it is named. Because of its rapid growth and aggressive nature it is categorized as a noxious weed in some regions. However, it is also a popular garden lawn and sports field grass species in Australia, South Africa and Southern California because it is inexpensive and relatively drought tolerant. Kikuyu grows best in full sun and likes warm tropical weather. Kikuyu does not grow in shade at all and literally 'grows away' from shade.
When growing in ideal conditions, Kikuyu has a dark lime colour and should be cut very often. Kikuyu can grow very tall and is also a favourable grass for live stock grazing. When planting this type of lawn in your garden, flower beds and paving should be checked at least once a week for rhizomes creeping under the soil and invading your flower beds and paving.
