Located adjacent to the Krugersdorp Nature Reserve and just 2km outside of Tarlton, lies the magnificent piece of land where Westrand Kikuyu & Landscape Installations has planted its roots. Westrand Kikuyu, for short and formerly known as Organic Abundance relocated to the West Rand in April 2018 where the company specialises in the raising of landscape plants. It also grows Kikuyu grass for landscape purposes.
Starting off as a one-woman business in a back-yard on the KZN coast in January 2008, this small company used to grow both ornamental and culinary seedlings as well as small-scale fresh and ready-for-the-table crops. During the year of 2008 the founder of the company discovered her passion for landscaping and in the following year, she enrolled in a series of landscaping courses, which she completed in 2012.
She then added landscaping to her company offering and slowly over the next two years, phased the production of vegetables and herbs out so that she could focus on growing the wholesale nursery and doing landscaping.
The company now boasts a staff compliment of 28 employees, 3 Landscapers of which one is the founder and CEO of the company, 7 Nursery Assistants and 18 General Workers, all trained in landscaping and basic plant knowledge.
Through the passion, dedication and efforts since its existence, Westrand Kikuyu has strived to research and develop new markets and provide leading service, as well as best quality products in its field. It is a proud achievement. The business’ products and services have also played a vital part in the stimulation of needs within its target markets.
