The Association of Funakoshi Shotokan Karate South Africa (AFSKSA) was established in 2015. On 10 January 2015 Shihan Selvan Govender resigned from IFFSKSA. He was the Vice President and Assistant Chief Instructor of IFFSKSA for 30 years. Shihan Selvan Govender – 7th Dan, an exponent of karate for over 44 years together with his senseis has formed the Association of Funakoshi Shotokan Karate South Africa.

Since the formation of this association he became the President and Chief Instructor. AFSKSA is a non profit organization, with the aim of teaching dynamic Shotokan Karate.
