The Stork's Nest opened its doors in 2001. It was founded by Erika Mostert, a qualified preschool teacher. She originally came from a nursing background. It was her mission, and remains The Stork’s Nest’s mission, to create a nurturing environment where children can learn, grow and experience the joys of childhood.
We have grown considerably from the day when the first child was entrusted to Erika's care and we now have two premesis. Our classes for infants from 3 months to children of 5 years are located at 34 Ocean View Street, Somerset West and our Grade R and aftercare classes are located at 9 Coronation Avenue, Somerset West.
We are a double-medium center providing education in Afrikaans and English. Our average caregiver to child ratio is 1:8 to ensure our children all receive personal attention.
Originally we catered for children from three months up to five, but since parents have asked for continuity, we also now offer a pre-primary class and aftercare services for primary school learners.
The Flying Eagles (our grade R class) started in 2009. We follow a proven curriculum in all our classes and it is our goal to encourage children to participate in all activities. The Flying Eagles follows the CAPS Curriculum and is presented by an qualified and experienced educator.
Furthermore we offer aftercare services to primary school learners attending De Hoop, Beaumont and Somerset West Primary.
