Ayurveda is the oldest system of medicine on earth which took its birth in the holy land of foot hills of Himalayas in Bharat. The word “Ayuh” which means life and “veda” meaning science, Ayurveda is the science of life.
Dr Kanada Narahari, our Ayurveda physician says: “Ayurveda is not just the system of medicine, not it is only science of life, Ayurveda is the only existing and spreading Indian philosophy of life”.
Definition of health told by Acharya Sushrutha, adopted by WHO:
“Samadoshah samaagnishcha samadhaatumalakriyaah/
Prasannaatmndriyamanaah swastha ityabhidheeyathe// Su. Su. 24/41”
“Optimum health is the state where all three doshas (bioenergy) and agni (metabolic process) are in balance and excretions in proper order, Atman, manah (Intellect) and senses are in harmony with internal peace.”
Ayurveda is an ancient science with its origin in India 6000 years ago. The components and concept of Ayurveda is rooted in Vedas, the ancient book of knowledge that dates around 3000BC. The component of the science that deals with the health and diseases, various herbs and preparations is known as Ayurveda medicine and came into existence around 1000BC which is holistic in nature, complex in origin and philosophical dealing with vast knowledge in it.
Ayurveda is a system of medicine which could heal with its natural remedies even the so called incurable diseases without any side effects.
