After I was asked to teach part time sewing classes at a well known college, I discovered that I love teaching this skill, and decided to start my own private courses.
I strive to teach my students the theory behind the practical, to understand why a certain method is done. To sew is all about understanding, when it is understood, then it becomes easy.
To me it is important to teach students the basics, and how to solve a sewing problem, when they come in contact with one, they need to know and understand how to deal with them on their own.
Learning them the proper sewing skills, not to skip any corners, how to work neatly and the correct sewing methods is my ultimate goal, and off course to show them how fun sewing really is.
So much can be achieved, only being able to stitch in a straight line, remember that!
We offer sewing classes to all, from young to old, any age.
It is incredible how many layers sewing has, from children’s clothing, to swimwear, to tailoring, to wedding dresses and evening wear, to home decorating, even crafts entails sewing, and a lot of other sewing areas I can’t even begin to recall.
So sewing is really a useful skill that is worth learning.
Sewing is good for your soul, because it can be a great stress-reliever, and being able to create something out of virtually nothing is a magnificent feeling. Sewing your own clothes and creating your own home decorating finishes can not only save you money, but it encourages creativity.
If you can sew you can repair your own clothing, sew in a missing button, repair an open seam, an hour or two of your time, and you can even transform a clothing piece you already own, how awesome is that?
Courses
• Each course consists out of 12 week classes for one 3 hour lesson a week.
• It is R3000 per course.
• Each student will have to bring their own sewing machines and sewing equipment.
• With each course you will receive a file compiled with all the necessary notes, the file will also include sections for all your sewing samples.
• The fabric, zip, buttons, and interfacing for your sewing samples is also included with each course.
• Students are required to buy their own sewing patterns and fabric for the garments they will create.
