Barend Daniel Bower, a 10 year old boy, started working as a casual laborer in the early 1900 with a civil construction company. At the age of 18 he joined a construction company and started learning the different trades until he started his own company in 1925 called B.D. Bower. It wasn’t long until he started building classrooms and provincial department buildings. It wasn’t long until B.D. Bower became a well-known construction company and thus a family business was born with the recruitment of Maxwell Gordon, a young Jewish boy that gained a keen interest in Barend D Bower’s daughter. Maxwell Gordon knew that attaching Quality Workmanship to a company’s name takes time and trust in your teams and thus started teaching his eldest son all the trades during school holidays.
The apple doesn’t fall far from the tree and Sidney Gordon soon found his love whilst building research department for water at the CSIR in Pretoria. He too took his eldest son Samuel Gordon to learn the trades during school holidays and here we stand today almost 90 years later. Construction:
- From 2005-2014 we built around 360 houses ranging from 40m²- 130m² to the value of R60mil p/a for Cosmopolitan Projects, a Johannesburg based developer.
Plumbing:
- Trained in all plumbing requirements and qualified with the Red Seal from the department of labour, we are also certified Solar Geyser and Heat Pump installers. We use only S.A.B.S approved material and in accordance with the SANS Code. We are registered with PIRB (Plumbing Industry Registration Board) and can issue legal C.O.C. for any work done on a project. Our staff are Perfectionists and meticulous in there installations.
