About Us

Situated in Durban’s leafy Morningside suburb, The Saint James on Venice luxury boutique guesthouse offers guests the perfect base from which to explore the city and surrounds. The guesthouse, originally the home of Corobrik founder Robert Storm who built it in 1892, is steeped in Durban history and retains much of its old world charm.

With 15 beautifully appointed bedrooms, guests can be assured of personal service in this intimate and friendly environment. Each room is individually decorated in a classically elegant style, some having a view over the century old St James church, others overlooking the peaceful garden terrace.

Guests can relax and enjoy a meal from the restaurant - Roots Cafè - indoors or outside on the terrace, under the ancient fig tree or in the herb garden.

The Saint James on Venice is well known amongst business travellers for providing the perfect place to relax after a hard day's work. For the leisure or weekend traveller, the intimate guesthouse provides the perfect escape for couples young and old.
